HOLY BASIL, BATMAN!

image2469

In Cris's absence, Deb wanted to take a shot at providing some good information for the group!

During Week 4, we had a discussion about the differences between the Sweet Basil we generally use in cooking and Holy Basil.

Here is some information that I came across. The sources seem credible.

Basically the plants are of the same genus, but different species and have different origins and uses.

Sweet Basil  (Ocimum basilicum)

Holy Basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum; aka Ocimum sanctum L. and tulsi)

Holy Basil and health
