Why we need your help!

Picture showing gardening area limitations such as mulched surface and low garden beds

The current gardens have been a great source of pleasure for many members of the local community, but in order to be accessible for ALL individuals, some improvements need to be made. Raised height garden beds allow for gardening from a seated position-- either from a chair or a wheelchair.

Lack of Storage and Proper Fencing

A place for everything and everything in its place. We would really love to have a small storage shed to store all our gardening tools and gardening supplies! Proper fencing would make the space safer, secure it from critters, and allow for more vertical gardening along the fence.

Picture shows mulched surface and trip hazards

The current surface is mulch and doesn't allow individuals with canes, walkers, scooters, or wheelchairs to safely navigate the garden. A hard, flat surface allows safer travel for all mobility device users and is better for individuals with a shuffling gait (common with Parkinson's Disease), ataxia, or vision impairments.

No Rest for the Weary

A tired gardener needs a place to sit. Or perhaps you'd just like to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature in the garden. We need to build garden benches that provide a place to sit and can also function as storage boxes and planters.
